Valgo: Blow the beats away
We are raising £8,000 which will be used to start our clinical trial with the novel, patented ValGo device that will have significant patient benefit for the treatment of SVTs (supra ventricular tachycardias). Currently the first-line treatment for this common condition is blowing into a syringe and super scary intravenous medication that stops your heart (very briefly - but you feel it!).
SVTs are life-threatening abnormalities that many people suffer from and may happen at any moment, but is usually only experienced as palpitations. When it gets bad you may experience chest discomfort, breathlessness or feel faint. In extreme circumstances you may collapse and suddenly die.
This device should allow you to treat the SVT the moment it happens. You can carry it with you and buy it over the counter. It is easy to use and does not require batteries or charging and will be available to the public.
Meet the team
We the inventors, Dr Johann Grundlingh and Dr Ali Refson are both Emergency Medicine consultants in the NHS. We have both worked in Emergency Medicine for many years, striving to treat adults and children with life-threatening heart abnormalities.
Our minimum target is £8,000 that will allow us to start testing the device in a clinical trial. If we hit our full target of £30,000 we can complete the trial. If we raise more than our target the money will go towards bringing the device to the market.
We are exceptionally grateful for any donation that you are able to make.
- If you donate £10 or more we will thank you on social media.
- If you donate £100 or more we will send you a personalised 'thank you' card.
- If you donate £500 or more you will be invited to visit the world-famous Royal London Hospital Emergency Department and meet the inventors.
